Yesterday we watched an amazing video by Nova about the Sun! I had no idea the Sun makes sound waves or that there were layers in the sun! We learned that the Sun is made out of plasma and has an magnetic field. The pictures of the Sun were amazing. Check it out:

This week we made a loop back to learning about the sun in more detail. This week we will work on making our own sun and learn about the all the different parts of the sun. We will use our KWL chart to help us write in our journals and keep track of all the things we have learned about the sun so far. We will also go back to tracking the sun and our shadows. Hopefully the weather will cooperate with us for the rest of the month. These lessons are available at: Eye on the Sky
Here is a awesome movie of the sun as of 1/20/13: SOHO Last Friday we had a great time learning about equivalent fractions. We had a chance to watch a Brain Pop video that touch on how to make equivalents and then we had our hand at finding them for ourselves. This week we will make equivalent fraction books. This will be my second attempt at this so wish us luck. Here is a link to the type of book I will make: Yearn to Learn
The last four days have been filled with questions, answers, and observations about the moon and moon phases. We had a wonderful science talk about how the moons shape change over a period of time. We discussed our thinking and came up with more questions to think about. We made predictions and will continue to observe the moon to see what happens next. Hope you enjoy this song all about the phases of the moon. Welcome to our new web page. I hope to use this space as a way to give you information you want and need. I will use this blog as a way to post up lessons, videos, and articles that are interesting to me and hopefully to you as well. I am so excited about this new year and new site. I hope you will enjoy this site as much as I do. Happy New Year!! |
