This week was filled with math, drawing and reading. This week we were working on our reading stamina. We are almost reading for 20 minutes non stop. Mrs.Day read to us How My Parents Learned to Eat. This was a fun book about how two different cultures eat and come together. This week in math, math mountains helped us understand addends and how you use them to get to a total. We also played a game using math mountains. Last but not least, we had a chance to add art to our book boxes. So much fun drawing and adding lots of color to our boxes. P.S: We had a great time with an awesome show called the Best of Me. This was brought to us by Kaiser Permanate. This week was filled with fun and learning. We had fun with Mr.Potato head (our complement tracker) and earned our first dance party. We earned a bunch of warm and fuzzies for our kindness jar. We learned about reader's workshop and number talks. We had fun with JiJi and Octo. Mrs.Day also read her favorite book to us. This week was great. Can't wait for next week! After a whole year of nothing, we are back. It feels so good to be back . We are so excited about posting awesome pictures and to write about all the cool things we do here at school. Our teacher has already started getting the classroom ready for us. So exciting!! Hope your summer was awesome and welcome back to the new school year!!
The sun is the best star ever!! We had a chance to learn all kinds of cool things about the sun!
The sun has spots on it and there are layers of the sun! We watched a great NOVA video about the sun and its amazing powers. We learned about the powers of CME's (Corona Mass Ejections) and how those ejections can interfere with our own magnetic field. We had fun painting our own sun and had fun looking at real time photos of the sun from space. We also had fun learning more about polygons. We had fun grouping different polygons by shape, numbers of sides, and size. Go Polygons!! This week we had more fun with squishy circuits with the 4th and 5th graders in Mrs. Zunnio's class. We had a chance to learn about series and parallel circuits. We also learned more about insulating play dough and how it helps stop electricity from flowing through.
We had so much fun with polygons and learning all about the different kinds and the names for them. We watched a Brain Pop Jr. and had fun looking at different examples. I hope everyone had a great Spring Break!! This week we had a chance to focus our attention on polygons. We really had fun learning about pentagons, hexagons, and octagons. We learned that polygons are closed figures and the are also called plane figures. This week we had a chance to look at our moon calendar and talk about the different phases of the moon. We also looked at the moon phases on the Moon Globe app and had a chance to see the moon change from the beginning to end of a 28 day cycle. Your can refer to our archived post that was done in January and February of 2013!! Spring break this week so no post!! Enjoy the week off!!
This week was our first chance to play with conductive play dough. We had so much fun figuring out how to get the play dough to light up out LED bulbs. We worked with a partner so we could discuss and help each other out. We received our new books so we have a chance to practice our reading at our reading level. We are so excited about all the cool books we have in our new library area. We are sharing what kinds of books we are reading with our classmates and are practicing our read stamina. We started to learn about angles, points and rays. We had so much fun using our bodies to make these angles. We also watched a Brain Pop video that helped us remember all the different lines and angles. |
